The Diocese of Bristol required a new rectory to serve the five parishes of the Draycot Benefice. A site was found within the village of Sutton Benger which required a sensitive design solution due to the nature of the village and the closeness to the Grade 2* listed church of All saints.
The challenge
The design had to reflect the importance of the siting and provide modern accommodation for incumbent and their family. The scheme needed to be completed within a limited budget but provide a solution in keeping with the village and its surroundings
The solution
Hookway worked with the architect’s O’Leary & Goss to carry out robust financial management through the design process to ensure that the proposals remained within the available budget whilst being mindful to ensure the core requirements of the design brief were retained. The project was carried out under a traditional contract with full quantity surveying services provided by Hookway throughout working closely with the Diocese to ensure their vision was delivered.
The result
The building was completed within the budget available and the timescale required by the parish community to provide a home fit for the 21st Century needs of a busy rector.
